Axolotls as Exotic Pets

The Axolotl may not a common pet, but it is very unique. The axolotl is a type of salamander, native to Mexico. It's scientific name is Ambystoma mexicanum. It belongs to the group of mole salamanders and larvae of this species fail to undergo metamorphosis, so the adults remain aquatic and gilled.

They have an ability to regenerate most body parts. Until now, axolotls were sold widespread on the market for food, but nowadays they are often kept as pets.

Axolotls have a good claim to being one of the world’s original exotic pets, having been kept in captivity since the early 19th Century and with a lifespan of 15 years or more – and even 25 years has been known – they make interesting and long-lived companions.

First sentence and the article is already missing words. It is really hard reading rest when you don't even get the first one right. Proofreading helps.
